Croatia (Croatian: Hr̀vātskā), officially the Republic of Croatia, is a country located in Central and Southeastern Europe, at the crossroads of Western Europe, the Pannonian Plain, the Balkans, and the Mediterranean Sea. Its capital (and largest city) is Zagreb. Croatia borders Slovenia and Hungary to the north, Serbia to the northeast, Bosnia and Herzegovina to the east, and Montenegro to the southeast, and it has a sea border with Italy to the southwest
HistoryAldo first Trance radio shows started in the early 90' wave of electronic music (you could even see Astral Projection video clips on local TV networks in those days) Party culture was paused during the 604 highlight in the western europe and world wide in 90' exept in small groups of psytravellers that encountered Trance somewhere over borders Trance as next step of psychedelic movement from 60' stays quite unknown. Techno and House scene is keeping all the people around. Founders of the Psytrance scene in Croatia are DJ's Marino and Space Lily psytravellers that camed back to country and they did kept fire alive trought first few years. Until 2001 there where two streams with Trance parties. One mainstream organization called Astralis that presented goa and post goa sound with world wide known artists and label parties like Flying Rhino, Cosmophillia, Matsuri... Presenting the Trance sound but didn't cared about other aspects of Trance culture and it's psychedelic heritage. And second stream that started with Marino and Space Liliy that continuated with organizations. So new crews where formed like Metamedia, Mars Room and Tribalizer that remeined underground since nowdays covering all aspects of Trance culture. Trought years that comed Astralis becamed more and more Euro Trance oriented project loosing its psychedelic music notation. That made fertile soil for underground subculture and first flowering of the scene started in 2001-2002 with constant party rate. New psyheads being linked via network by Trancepleme forum. So the scene was not only in capitol city Zagreb but it was situated in other cities like Pula, Rijeka, Osijek and last offspring town Knin scene was usually supported by local crews. and due to scene opening, with more and more partygoers, crews merged and first international scale festival Underwater Overground (UWOG) was borned that was mostly powered by ATTACK group of people consisting out of people with roots in Trance, Dub and Punk subculture scene. Main Organizer of UWOG festival was Domagoj Šeks- Sheki well known psytraveller and DJ Kobayagi. Cycle continueted in 2004 on legendery UWOG#2 in island Hvar. In 2005 tragic death of Sheki in Goa had big impact on the scene. Even with all the troubles this small scene experienced with Sheki ' s lost as most vital member of Attack and UWOG. UWOG was held in 2005 and 2006 almost on pure faith. Exept those festivals dedicated to Sheki there where almost no events those years. At the time Trancepleme forum is taking a roll of keeping the vibe alive if not vibrant and outhere. Spring after last Uwog festival scene started to florished again with new people and crews over whole country like: Ministarstvo Psihodelije, Soundforms and Tribalizer with new branches Mali Princ and Psyebancia, also ODDvod crew, for capitol city Zagreb, Metamedia in Pula, Mars Room/Psycordia in Rijeka, Boomshroom in Osijek and HUK in Knin. But money rocks Trance world also and even with it's open air friendly climate along with sea shores and islands Croatian tribe didn't held international scale festival since 2006 UWOG. Shure music changed over years, people come and go but being small and underground Croatian scene menage to stay true to it's primal belives and ideals of psychedelic movement and its tradition... ok we didn't splitted many atoms but integrity of the scene remeined Psycore.
[2009] The constant development in CROATIAIn The Last Year the psy Trance scene was followed by 2008 progress. Resulting with constant party rate with various types of Trance music. So like before expect everything from progressive to psybreaks (there is only lack of suomi dj around ?). The scene gained underground flavor tending to present distinguished sound signature as refreshing alternative to the homogeneus sounding mass released contemporary Trance music. So if this is too abstract maybe last year guest book can ring a bell for you: Ocelot, Shadow FX, acts from Peak and Wild Things Records, Xenomorph, Greg On Earth, Dosage, Paramatma, Para Halu, Kalumet even old school setup from MFG & Powersource. So fellow travellers don't expect full on flavored with cheese or Ibiza ass tricks in amount that counts It is about psychedelic around here. Chill out and Psybient culture is also quite known among psyheads even events focused only on that brenches of scene are held. Being small and underground scene since it's first flights, bond between organisers and party goers is quite intimate with real sense of community allowing everyone to participate and put his/her part-icle in that vibrant living being.

www.Trancepleme.com remeins a place to get up whit what is across this small bumerang shaped country. Almost everyone is speaking english here. Scene is mostly genereted around capitol Zagreb but as said before country is small so with wheels you can reach any regional psyspot within few hours from capitol city. With its diverse geographic features Croatia is giving psyheads several geomantic doors to open and tune in... In forests, plains, hills, mountains and sea shores parties are held. Parties are not big around 300-500 visitors. So as you can guess the best time to visit croatia is in open air season from spring until autumn. Parties are most freqvent from May until August. You can expect in May 3 day open air festival Area Koola near Osijek in eastern region of country. Crew from Osijek making event flavoured with Macedonian acts and psytravellers. Koola festival is well known good vibe event amoung psyheadz. That info came out recentlly but in near future expect Ministarstvo Psihodelije with Sensient and many more unexpected and yet to come. Not having bigger international festival native psytravellers are in August going abroad or they are chillin somewhere along coast same as regular party visitors so August is mostly dry period. Tribe is usually gathered in September stomping on Earth Dance and resonanting from few psycores with global tribe. Drug politics are quite strict in Croatia also there is no habit of police raids so you can feel free and safe while outdoors but in city and clubs don't tease the devil not even with the joint, couse penalty is harsh and fines are big. Always trying to put some mustard in dominant culture clock mechanism to stretch some time for art. So it is quite common for international guests to play as long as they are willing to play giving them more room to express their work. With not looking on 2 hours standard stop watch count down system. Artists from Croatia involved in psy culture are like in any psy community covering all areas. We have really good DJ-s, VJ-s, deco teams and individuals, jugglers and so on. With uprising flock of producers producing various styles of Trance music. Some of them you can check on V. A. Entities Croatian community compilation that took 2nd place on Ektoplazm Best Free Release Of 2009 contest in best V. A. category. There are no specialized shops for Trance music or jugglers stuff anymore so internet is place to get all the toys. Exept forum radio show Disco Inferno is going everyweek since 1995 held by pionir DJ Marino also due to Ministarstvo Psihodelije recent rebirth of Kobayagi radio show about Trance culture are going on.
