Etnicanet Records - Ibiza

Originally conceived as the legendary Etnica Group (genre-defining party collective whose spheres of impact include Bali, Brasil, Goa (India), Thailand, Milan and Ibiza) in the late 1980's/early 1990's, Etnicanet eventually became a globally acclaimed record label. Following over a decade's experience in the world of Electronica through musical production, concerts, international festivals and prestigious club events worldwide, the necessity of creating our own 'sound' via the presentation and promotion of new artists became evident.

Established on Millennium Eve in the Balearic Island of Ibiza, Etnicanet Records specialises in electronic music, integrating much acoustic production through collaborations with artists of diverse musical ethnicities. This implies the introduction and exposure of emerging talent worldwide, accompanied by established international names and musicians of various backgrounds.

Our focus is on a maximised amalgamation of the Audio-Visual experience. Along with the releases, we are also an international festival organisation with a successful history of on-going events around the world. Etnicanet members have played essential roles, throughout their experience (which spans almost 20 years), in the consolidation of today’s worldwide trance music and festival capitals such as Goa, Bali, Ibiza, Brasil (Etnicanet’s Celebra Brasil Festival was the first of such calibre, success, and international appeal in Latin America at the time), Thailand, South Africa (Southafrica 2000 Millennium Festival and Southafrica 2002 Total Solar Eclipse Festival by Etnicanet, Vortex, and Alien Safari were the catalysts that made South Africa one of today’s strongest party zones) Greece (Samothraki Dance Festival and Sola Luna), etc, and are still today travelling the world, initiating new scenes at the four courners of the globe.

Label manager DJ Young Kim (aka Arkanoydz)’s role proved instrumental in bringing the Etnicanet sound to the farthest reaches of the planet, including Korea, Dubai (United Arab Emirates), virtually every region of today’s hottest party & festival zone: Brasil, Chile, all over Europe, Turkey, South Africa, and much more. Etnica (aka Pleiadians)are always present at the world’s most prestigious events with their invincible musical prowess and unique on-stage charisma, causing total chaos on every dancefloor they perform for.

Aligned with the constant advancement of music technologies and the progression of musical tendencies in the world of Electronica, Etnicanet aims to enchant and entertain by raising the standard through the production of high-quality releases that encapsulate the incessant, multi-faceted evolution of music in its quality and complexity.

Back in the late 80's during the Acid House days, the 'Dance All Night' events in Milan and Ibiza were gaining press reviews and appreciation world wide. The success powered by positive feedback motivated us to persevere and unite a group of active members around the globe who were already throwing parties on the shores of Goa (India), Chile, Venezuela, and Ibiza (only to name a few) and were successfully devising the Global Electronic Entertainment Machine that is Etnicanet.

International festivals came as the next step in a natural evolution of our international collective . . .

On Millennium Eve, Etnicanet was conceived not only as a record label, but also as an international events organization operating in the world's hottest festival zones as well as initiating new scenes to the rest of the world. Merging the artistic and logistical talent of its crew members, Etnicanet has an ongoing global reputation for creating festival situations that continuously raise the standard in the world of Electronica.

A celebratory continuum for the mesmerizing amalgamation of all sensory stimuli -particulary focusing on the audio-visual experience- the Etnicanet Technisensor Event is composed by the cream of international musicians as well as top-class visual artists such as El Geko (Psynema / General Cosmics - Austria) and Avikal (Protoart.co.uk - Italy/UK). El Geko is ever-present with the live-video and 3d-graphic artistry that accompanies the festival music, while Avikal creates ethereal and mind-boggling atmospherics with geometric string and laserwork as well as his notorious art installations.

Musically, all festivals showcase the global pool of musicians whose talent has given character, quality, and success to all our releases, with a special focus on promoting up and coming artists by exposing them to a uniquely appreciative and demanding International dance-floor.

A few friends and artists who have contributed their musical talent to our events: Dino Psaras (Cydonia / Tortured Brain - UK), Simon Posford (Hallucinogen / Shpongle - UK), Dado (Deedrah / Synthetic - FR), GMS (Growling Machines /1200 Mics / Spun Rec - NL), Serge Souque (Total Eclipse / The Antidote - FR), Antaro (Spirit Zone Rec / Voov Experience - GER), Miko (California Sunshine - ISR), Emok (Iboga Rec - SWE), Chika & Akira (Solstice Rec - JPN), Wrecked Machines (Spun Rec / Etnicanet Rec - BRA), Bamboo Forest (MP Rec / Moon Spirits Rec - FR), Alien Project (Tip.World - ISR), Species (Etnicanet Rec - YU), Rinkadink (Alchemy Rec - SA), and many, many more...

Southafrica Joining forces with Vortex and Alien Safari (the most successful and celebrated South African party organizations), Etnicanet organized two legendary events that worldwide party-goers will remember as some of the most enchanting outdoor festival experiences ever, aligned on two of the most spectacular and memorable occasions of our lifetime.

Southafrica 2000 Millennium Festival (turn of the Millennium / New Year’s Eve 1999-2000): A 72-hour international event which hosted, for the only time in Trance history, 48 hours of continuous live acts and 24 hours of Dj sets. The hottest bands and music producers as well as disc spinners contributed to the introduction of the African party paradise and made it into one of the most popular destinations of the tropical trance lovers. This event is portrayed in our 'Southafrica 2000 Millennium Festival' CD-Rom (gift disc included in the triple-cd release which was the genesis of our record label - ET 001).

Southafrica 2002 Total Solar Eclipse Festival (Dec. 3-6, 2002): With the finest blend of international enthusiasts and the wildest globe-trotting spirits coming together for the New Millennium's Total Solar Eclipse, our SA 2002 Festival is fondly remembered as a unique experience in which the crowds danced and gazed with awe at yet another amazing celestial event in the company of Lions, Elephants, Rhinos and Black Mambas. Our 'ECLIPSE - SA 2002 Total Solar Eclipse Festival Compilation' (ET 010) is an homage to this breathtaking event, and the release of this CD marks our tenth release.

Brasil Celebra Brasil Festivals 2001, 2002, and 2003 Back in 1987 Max Lanfranconi (Etnica) arrived on the shores of Bahia and introduced the Full Moon Parties that took place on the beautiful beaches of Arraial D' Ajuda. These sun-dazed fests received the warmest of responses from the long-forgotten hippies of Goa who shifted there in the 80's, as well as the ever-blasting Bahian party animals. Here, our Brasilian headquarters - Jungle Palace is situated nowadays.

Fully initiating such explosive, sexy and rhythmic crowds to the trance and electronica taste was only a matter of time: Max persevered and kept contributing, in the early 90s, to the formation of what has now become perhaps the hottest trance-party nation in the world. Early into the new millennium, label manager DJ YOUNG KIM begins his regular tours to Brasil, bringing the Etnicanet and his own Arkanoydz sound to virtually every region of Brasil, including many of the country’s most prestigious events and festivals. Today, Young is one of the most sough-after and appreciated dj’s/artists both in Brasil and worldwide.

Our Celebra Brasil Festivals took place, in all their success and acclaimed appreciation, in Barra Do Una (2001), Paraty (2002), and Sao Paulo interior (2003) - crowds reminiscing and anxiously awaiting for the next one in this unforgettable series.

Portugal - Zambujeira 2003 Festival

On the natural haven of the sun-dazed Iberian Alentejo Coastline, Etnicanet joined forces with Hipnose (among the most experienced and successful events organizers in Portugal) to conceive the first Etnicanet open-air festival in Europe. Picturesque cork tree forests and the unique latin flavour of the Portuguese crowds characterized this massive 4-day event that was once again an ecstatic celebration of modern dance music and an exquisite melting pot of cultures, arts and pure entertainment.
