Slug
Slug is punchy, quirky, fullon psychedelic trance from South Africa. Electro-magnetic mayhem designed to worm its way inside your head, and produce a smile.

Born and raised in South Africa, Slug (a.k.a Liam Gibbs) has been producing, DJing, and dancing in Cape Town since the late 90s. A declared fan of "nearly all psytrance, except for the dead boring prog numbers and certain items in the Homega catalogue", it is not surprising that his music is a powerful mash up of psytrance styles, offering a great cross-over between the twisted beats of the night, and the blissfull melodies of a daytime dancefloor.

Cape Town in the late 90s saw a blossoming outdoor party scene, and Liam's inspiration came from international producers playing in Cape Town such as Etnica, Dino Psaras, Joti Sidhu, Koxbox, the Flying Rhino crew etc. In the years following the millenium, he was part of a wave of young South African producers and labels that began to get worldwide attention. In 2004 he released his debut album "Lose Your Shell", which was supported by a three city tour in Japan (with Fineplay Music), and apprearances at outdoor festivals in Germany and Portugal.

Slug has continued to release a consistent stream of single tracks and full length albums over the years, as well as being booked to play live and DJ shows on every continent. He is a co-owner of the Nexus Media label, as well as one half of the popular "Pitch Hikers" project.

2010 sees Slug's 4th solo album release: expect some hot collaborations with exciting artists, and a healthy dose of high tech Sluggy originals.
